Burning Heart captures the emotion and energy of a yearly tradition in the small English town of Ottery Saint Mary where, on the 5th of November for reasons unknown, the residents of the town carry burning barrels of tar through the streets. Our aim was to create a visceral visual spectacle that seeks to take the viewer into the heart of the action.
Verso is directing duo Jose Otero and Louis Ellison.
At their core is an immersive approach to storytelling. They make films that illuminate an aspect of the human experience — whether it’s the lives of Colombian coffee farmers, horse wrestlers in northern Spain, or members of the Japanese Chicano subculture.
