Inspired by true events, Beneath a Mother’s Feet tells the story of Wedad, a single mother in Morocco, who finds herself at a difficult juncture in her life. Weaving cinema verité with surrealism, we observe Wedad’s internal struggle as she faces an unthinkable decision: to walk away from her life and her children’s futures.
Director Biography:
Elias, a British-Moroccan writer-director, is becoming known for his stories that challenge conventions and push boundaries. His short story, The Horrors I Have Seen, stood out among 750 entries to A Writing Chance, marking his emergence into commissioned writing. He has contributed to the New Statesman, been showcased on BBC Sounds, and had work performed to live sell-out audiences. Elias’s screenwriting and directorial debut, Beneath a Mother’s Feet, completed in 2023, has won numerous awards globally. Elias focuses on nuanced characters and narratives that prompt deeper reflection.
