Bristol was recently recognized by UNESCO as a โCity of Filmโ alongside the likes of Sydney, Rome, and Galway. We pride ourselves on being the largest celebration of independent film in Bristol and we aim to create a hub for independent film-makers.

We only award the most exceptional filmmakers after a comprehensive 3-stage evaluation process. Our judges assess the quality of filmmaking, creativity, and storytelling ability in each submission. This thorough process ensures that only the most outstanding films make it to the final stages.
All selected nominees will be invited to our live screening in Bristol, providing a fantastic opportunity to connect with others in the industry.

Great great festival! Really interesting and original selection of films, fantastic communication and hospitality. Covid turned it entirely online this year, yet they managed to make it as exciting and fun. The crew is very generous and collaborative, they really want to promote your work and make the extra effort. Our film won an award so after the festival they sent me the trophy and a lot of follow-up gadgets and materials. Amazing stuff!
I was so happy to be awarded by BIFF. The festival was so professional & well-organized. Even though the event was online, the communication around the films was top notch. The festival was liaising with us at all time. Thank you for your hard work! I can't wait to come to Bristol next year!
Lovely festival, really great communication and selection of films. All online due to Covid so didn't get chance to meet everyone for real, but well put together. And winning an award with actual physical trophy sent out was very exciting!
This was my second time attending the film festival and all I can say is it has gone from strength to strength. As always, great communication and good value. All of the films that were screened were of a high standard in cinematography, storytelling, directing and production. I had the pleasure of watching every film of which I thoroughly enjoyed. I just like to say a big thank you to the festival for giving me a Honourable Mention for my film No Justice, No peace. I am truly honoured! Keep up the great work!
